The Quabbin Education Foundation for Students and Teachers (QUEST) have announced their QUEST 2012 Grants. QUEST has granted over $4,000 to the following projects:

Plein-aire Painting as well as Easel Painting/Drawing

Funding will be used to purchase seven or more freestanding easels for the Art Department, enabling students to go outside to do plein-aire painting.

Big E College Fair Trip Transportation

This grant will provide transportation for QRHS students to attend the Big E College Fair in West Springfield this March.

Decorating Wheels

This grant will purchase eight decorating wheels for the ceramics studio.

IMPACT Concussion Testing Program

This computerized exam is utilized to successfully diagnose and manage concussions in athletes. If a student is injured during competition, IMPACT is used to determine the severity of the head injury and also to make sure that the injury is fully healed before returning to play.

Fit for Life Program

This grant will augment and expand the PE department by allowing instructors to teach students the latest and most effective innovative fitness trends.


This program will bring the Boston Museum of Science inflatable STARLAB to Ruggles Lane School this March. Inside, the STARLAB will present a dark, cloudless night sky which is a realistic model of the night sky over Barre.

Field Trip to Fitchburg Art Museum

Following exploration of the museum’s collections from Egypt, Greece and Rome, students will be able to complete their own studio art projects on-site.

Nature’s Classroom Marine Day

This grant will allow students participating in the week long Nature’s Classroom program to expand their learning through a day studying marine life at Beaver Tail State Park.
